Reel Talk Returns!

 

Reel Talk with Rich and Jon returns after a long hiatus! Jon's been keeping busy making movies with Elmwood Productions, and Rich has been keeping busy with all his shows on The Claw's Corner! But they are back! In this all-new episode of Reel Talk they spend some time fighting! But fighting with critics and film lovers as they pick a movie each to defend. Movies they think deserve more love than they usually get. Jon discusses why "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of The Crystal Skull" is a good (although not perfect) tale in the Indy lore and progression of the character's life. And Rich covers Tobe Hooper's often forgotten slasher flick "The Funhouse", and how not only was it something different in a market full of slashers at the time, but how's it's also a lot of fun. They also chat about other film stuff and chat about how wild things have been since fall 2020!

2ND ACT: Rich Cyr

My buddy Rich Cyr is an actual inspiration to me.

He's been through a lot...  And he keeps his spirits high, his energy over the top, and his attitude positive.

He's one of those people who inspires me, and makes me want to always do my best and be the best person I can be.

And I really do believe I am a better person for knowing him.

I mean, c'mon...  Look at this picture.  What a goofball.  How can anyone not love him!?

He's got this show coming up later this month.  Called 2nd Act.  It's a series of talks with interesting people, and he is doing one June 23.  At The Palace Theater in Waterbury CT.

And it can be streamed!  Of you can go in person!

Nutmeg Chatter Presents - The Claw's Corner

Just before we got hit with this pandemic I recorded a radio show called "Nutmeg Chatter - The Claw's Corner"
I had guested on Nutmeg Chatter a few years ago, and was invited by when a new host took over.  The new host, Rich Cyr, wanted to chat all things HEAD and Elmwood.
When we were done with this interview we chatted about doing another, but talking about the "Evil Dead" films, since we both liked them so much...  Then BOOM...  Pandemic...
Once we were hit with that Rich reached out to do it over Zoom, and it turned into a show!
We started "Reel Talk" from this...

Reel Talk Episode 1

So I never wanted to be one of those guys who sits on camera and talks about "stuff".  Then I met Rich Cyr.  I sat down with Rich a month or so ago to be interviewed for his radio show "Nutmeg Chatter Presents Claw's Corner", to talk about HEAD and all things Elmwood.  And we hit it off.

Rich is a genuine sweet guy, and his enthusiasm for talking about movies is contagious!  When I was being interviewed he mentioned having me back on to just talk about horror films.  And I was in, for sure.
Then, well, the plague...

So Rich reached out and mentioned doing the interview/conversation via Zoom.  And before either of us knew it we had a "show" on our hands.
And Reel Talk was born.  We'll be chatting about horror films, mostly.  The first one is us geeking out over the "Evil Dead" flicks.   What I like is that we're not being critics.  We're not analyzing every detail.  We're just talking about movies we like, and our experiences as fans.

I don't think we're locking ourselves to a strict schedule either.  Just when we can, and have fun!  Hoping to get some of the Elmwood crew on for episodes, because they are all true movie geeks too.  I look forward to not having to do this via a webcam too.  Can't wait to record in "real life".
