If it's good enough for E.T....

Went to Starbucks to grab a coffee...
Saw "Justin's" peanut butter cups and figured; "Sure I'll try that."

Sorry Justin.  After having a taste of your brand I'm gonna stick with my good old buddy Reese.

At least she didn't sparkle....

So I've been working late nites at my "day job" this week...  And each nite I have had a really odd dream.
But what I woke up with in my head today was a winner....

I'm having my morning coffee and Ally Sheedy* shows up at my kitchen window.  It's just about dawn and she's wearing sunglasses and looks scared.  She asks if she can come in.  So, since she's Ally Sheedy, I say sure.
Somehow magically she appears at my kitchen table, and has a coffee.  She didn't use a door or the window.  Just poof, she's there.

I jump a foot and she asks me to relax; "Although I am a vampire, I'm not going to bite you.  It's too close to morning to do that."

I'm sorry...  Ally Sheedy is a vampire?

She goes on to tell me that she became a vampire while making the movie "Maid To Order"  And since then she's been having trouble getting mainstream roles.  I suggested doing a "Short Circuit 3" and she said Johnny 5's head is too big now that he has "Wall-E money" from Disney.  Johnny was going to sue them for using his likeness without permission, so Disney paid him off to be quiet.

"So, since you're not here to bite me and drink my blood, why are you here?" I ask.

"I need a place to hide until sundown.  I'm being chased by Van Helsing."

And then I woke up...

* - After seeing the Breakfast Club when I was 10 I had a huge crush on this woman...

"Wrangle"

There are days that I'm happy to be out there, in the world, confronting whatever comes at me...
And that's most days....

But some days I'm just happy to be on the couch, watching "Clerks", again...

I love both kinds of days.

Magic Hat # 9 Gives Good Puppet Making Advice

Daddy Pop!

Decided to listen to some Prince and the New Power Generation which my coffee this morning…
Went with "Diamonds and Pearls" from 1991, and as I grabbed it I said: "Some good old Prince"…
Damn.  This album is old.  I remember the first time I heard it.  I remember the tape getting worn out and buying the CD (and giving the tape to Tricky).

I remember sleepless nights two years later playing this and the Love Symbol Album over and over while drawing and writing.

Good times...

Sammy and Jim…

Hard to believe 25 years ago today I was a freshman in high school, walking home on a sunny may day listening o my Walkman… Playing a Guns N' Roses tape, no doubt. And I got home to find out the two of my artistic "idols" and influences had both passed away…

Here's to you, Sammy and Jim...

My face made the cover of the local paper!

And no one has rioted yet!
Check it out here - click the image to read the whole thing:

Even though "Animal Behavior" is mentioned as "Family Matters" it's still an awesome article!
It was nice to come home from work today and find this in my mailbox!
I wonder how soon before the editors get letters because the ugly guy in the cover is scaring people!  Hahaha!

Thank you Mr. Sutton for the article!!!

Elmwood Lampoon's Puppet Vacation...

With HEAD premiered and available, and spring just starting to kick in I'm taking a internet vacation…
No bloggin', no Facebookin', no Amazonin', and so on and on…
I'm gonna prep for a wedding, drink coffee, make puppets, write some scripts, and pet my cats...

See ya in a month or so!

And thanks to everyone who came out to see HEAD this past weekend.  I feel blessed.  We made a goofy horror movie and you all came to see it, bought DVDs and got a kick out of it.

And to everyone who worked on the flick - Rick, Russ, Mike, Gabe, Manda, Keith, Sally, Steph, Nick, Theresa, Finberg, Pat, Jim, Joe, Brian, and of course Ben! -
Without you cats the past year of Elmwood would have been even more stressful.  Hahaha!  We made it happen guys, we made HEAD…  It's been brewing for 5 years.  And now, just after the fifth anniversary of the first draft of the script we've screened it and it's out there in the world.
Can't wait to see what we cook up next.

Monday, March 30, 2015

And then came Monday….

Annndd…  DONE!
Well, kinda…
Elmwood premiered HEAD and we sold out!  Yay!!!!
Now I'm going to sleep for a few extra hours!
Hope everyone liked the flick who saw it!
