Absurd....

 

Went to see Gn'R last nite with Tricky...  And wow.  Kicked ass from front to back.  

During the show they announced a new single would be released at midnite, then played the tune.

Gn'R is at a point in their career where new music could easily be just re-treads of their old work.  New "Classic Rock" as it could be.  Much like Eagle and The Rolling Stones and Ac/DC have been doing for years and years.
But instead they are making "new" music.  New vibes.  New concepts. 
And it is a noisy brutal mess.

I fucking love it.

A new Prince album last month.  New Danny Elfman a couple months back.
Now this.  Hell yeah.

Let's get loud.

First concert since 2019...

I'm ready.

More re-invention... 

This time Prince does Soul Asylum.
And he makes it his own.

I love Prince.  Anyone who knows me knows that.
I also love Soul Asylum.  Maybe I should be living in Minneapolis? Haha.

Prince kills it here, but I do prefer the original though.

I've got history with this song.  The original version came out summer 2006. It was a time that the world thought Soul Asylum was long over.  And they came back.  With the best album in their career; "The Silver Lining".
And I was looking for one myself.  And so many of those songs hit me hard.  And hit home, and my heart.  Two other albums that year were equally as powerful. "Stadium Arcadium" from Red Hot Chili Peppers and "3121" from Prince. 
And here's Prince bringing his version of a song that really kicked me, and it's kicking me again.
Thank you Dave, and thank you Prince.

 Us artist types can be a tortured and damaged bunch, huh? 

It's weird how songs can reinvent themselves as time goes on.  See this post from a while back for a great example, in my opinion...  Based on what is happening in life as life moves and changes and creates.  

I posted earlier this year about trying to overcome being an angry young man back after my mother died and everything I was working for went to shit.  And how since 2001 I have been doing my best to be the best, or at least better.  
But what is better?  
And why should I be?  
For me maybe?
For others?
Or should I be better to keep other people from having their mistakes fuck them over for all to see?  
Should I just let everyone know?  And see what happens?

Would it make me feel better?
I kinda am leaning to a "yes" there....

Should I be a better person to help others cover up their bad behavior, even if it is making me dissolve as a human being, as a person, and go against everything I have done to be a "better" person?

Should I behave more like Spidey here?  And let every motherfucking asshole, whore, and wretched piece of shit burn?  Maybe I should throw every asshole under the bus?  Would it make me feel better?  

Honestly, yes.  It fucking would.

Maybe it's also after 11PM and I'm burnt out and not thinking straight.  And maybe I should not care anymore.

I honestly don't think anyone even reads this site anymore unless I'm posting a puppet picture, and that's fine.  

I do this for me.  It's a good release. 
Should I not hold back anymore? Should I let loose and say what's on my mind, and in my heart?  Should I just unload?
As Prince said:

Fuck it.  I still do.  But as I got older and past 2001 I wasn't relating to the rage and anger of the songs, of the music.  It had moments , but...
And Monday evening, as my computer was playing a shuffle of all the music on it "Perfect Crime" started.

Been telling some good friends that I have been feeling "WWAD"* and maybe I should be behaving with "WWHD"** instead.  But God damn;  Sometimes destruction feels right.

Full circle?

 Not quite.

Today Elmwood was shooting scenes for "Bernice, Too" in downtown Elmwood.  
Where I grew up and where the germ of the idea that has become Elmwood Productions all began.
This picture Mike took is across the street from where "The Elm" movie theater used to be.  As you can see it is a Walgreens now.

And yeah, I'm looking over at it.  
My first "real" job was working at The Elm.  Concessions, usher, ticket sales, whatever needed to be done.  It was a theater I went to all the time, walking distance from my home as a kid.  
For the brief time I lived in Florida I missed it.  When I moved back it was gone.

I've always loved movies.  And I love making them now. 
Even on the hottest and most humid days of the summer.
